A Heartfelt Remembrance Day Ceremony
EPE students, staff, and special guests gathered in our school gym to honor and remember those who served in times of war and peace. We began with an acknowledgment of Treaty 6 Territory and welcomed everyone, followed by a heartfelt singing of O Canada.
Throughout the ceremony, we were moved by several videos, and Legion member Roger Freeman read the Act of Remembrance. Our Grade 6 readers guided us through the significance of the Last Post, Two Minutes of Silence, Lament, and Reveille. In a powerful moment, we all stood in silence for two minutes to reflect on the sacrifices made by so many. Cadet Jacob Ng shared Commitment to Remember, and we observed the Wreath Ceremony with reverence. Our Grade 6 readers also recited In Flanders Fields and Do Not Take for Granted, before closing the ceremony with a beautiful rendition of Where Have All the Flowers Gone, accompanied by Grade 6 students on ukuleles.
Thank you to all of our families and special guests for joining us in this meaningful tribute, and a special thank you to our Remembrance Day Committee for their thoughtful planning and organization of the ceremony. Lest we forget.
